Internship Program

The History Department offers majors the opportunity to gain valuable experience through the department Internship Program. The student enrolls in History 4940, earns three hours of credit, all while working at one of the department's internship sites. Each site will offer a unique experience, distinctly different from what a student will gain from a classroom experience. Currently the department has internships available at the following agencies:

  • Boone County History and Culture Center
  • Missouri State Archives
  • Missouri State Museum
  • The Museum of Missouri Military History
  • National History Day
  • State Historical Society
    • Archives & Manuscripts
    • Oral History
    • Curatorial/Public Programming
    • Preservation/Conservation Internship
  • University of Missouri Archives
  • The Supreme Court of Missouri
  • Kinder Scholars Program, through the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy
  • Special Collections and Rare Books

We also have an Undergraduate Internship Resource Guide with suggested summer sites outside of Columbia.
