Michael D. (Mike) Olson
I received my B. A. in History from Eastern Illinois University in 2016. I received my M. A. in History from the University of Missouri for my thesis entitled "Red Lion in Winter: The Life and Times of Claude M. Lightfoot."
I am currently a PhD student working under the direction of Dr. Keona K. Ervin. My primary areas of research are African American history, LGBTQ+ history, and the history of radicalism in the latter half of the twentieth century. I am interested in the lives and histories of African Americans and LGBTQ+ people outside of highly urbanized metropolitan areas, particularly in the Upper Midwest.
